Savings goals

A goal in Finvot is a planned savings target for something you want — a trip, a car, studies, an emergency fund. You set a target amount and, optionally, a deadline; Finvot tracks your progress, how much is left, and how much you should contribute each month to get there on time.

The best part: you contribute by marking your real expenses as a contribution to the goal, so the saving you already do shows up on its own.

Create a goal

Go to Profile → Goals and tap New goal

Pick the currency and type the target amount

Give it a name, and optionally a deadline

Pick an icon and a color, and save

The deadline is optional, but it helps

If you add a deadline, Finvot shows the days remaining and suggests a monthly contribution to get there on time. Without a deadline, the goal still works like a piggy bank with no due date.

Contribute from an expense

In Finvot a contribution is an expense transaction you mark as a contribution to the goal. No need to log your saving twice: you use the transaction you already have.

Choose the goal you want to contribute to

A goal's saved amount is the sum of the expenses you linked to it. To remove a contribution, open the same expense and choose None.

Track your progress

Each goal shows at a glance:

  • Progress % — how far along you are toward your target.
  • Saved / target — the accumulated amount against the goal.
  • Days remaining — how long until the deadline (if you set one).
  • Suggested monthly contribution — how much to put in per month to arrive on time.

Above the list, a summary card adds up the total saved across all your goals. When a goal reaches 100%, it's marked as completed 🎉.

Good to know

  • Contributions still count as spending: marking an expense as a contribution doesn't remove it from your budget or reports — it just tags it to the goal.
  • Personal expenses only: you can contribute from personal expenses (not income, transfers, or shared couple expenses).
  • Personal goals: for now goals are individual, not shared with a partner.
  • No deadline: the goal works the same, you just won't see days remaining or a suggested monthly contribution.
  • Multi-currency: each goal lives in a single currency; contributions add up in that currency.
  • Deleting: deleting a goal does not delete the linked transactions — it only unlinks the contribution.
