Money owed to you
Covered the group dinner, lent a friend some cash, or paid for something you'll be paid back for? Mark it as "receivable" and Finvot keeps count for you: how much you're owed in total, who's already paid you, and what's still pending.
What a "receivable" is
It's an expense you log normally (the money did leave your account), but flagged as money you expect to get back. Flagging it doesn't change your balance — it's still a real expense; you're just labeling it so you don't lose track and can see it apart from the rest.
Receivable, not “payable”
Finvot tracks money owed to you (what you lent out). There's no mode for logging your own debts that you owe someone else later.
Mark an expense as "receivable"
When creating or editing an expense, flip the "Receivable" toggle 🤝.
Create the expense (or open an existing one and edit it)
Flip the “Receivable” toggle
Use it when it's an expense someone owes you: the dinner you covered, a loan to a friend.
Save
The toggle doesn't appear on transfers between your own accounts or on transactions shared with your partner.
See how much you're owed
In the Transactions tab, filter by "Owed to me" and you'll see every open loan and the total you're owed. Each loan's detail shows an amber banner: "Loaned money pending collection".
Log the payment when you're paid back
When someone pays you, you log a normal income and link it to the loan. That link is what marks the loan as collected. You can do it from either side:
From the loan → “Link an income (payment)”
Open the expense flagged as receivable and pick the income you were paid with.
…or from the income → “Link to a pending loan”
Open the income you received and pick which loan it corresponds to.
Log the income first
To link, you need the income already created in Finvot (it may have arrived on its own from your bank, or you log it by hand). The picker only shows incomes that aren't linked to another loan yet.
Partial payments
Getting paid back in installments? Link several incomes to the same loan. Finvot adds up the payments and shows the state:
- Partially settled: X of Y — while the payments add up to less than the amount lent.
- Fully settled — when the payments match or exceed what you lent.
There's nothing to "close" by hand: the state is computed from whatever you link.
Fixing a link
If you linked the wrong income, open the loan's payments list (or the linked income) and tap "Unlink". The income stops counting as a payment for that loan and the state recalculates. The income itself isn't deleted.
Good to know
- The expense still counts. Marking "receivable" doesn't remove it from your spending or change your balance — the money really did leave your account. It's a tracking label, not an accounting adjustment.
- No reminders or due date. Finvot won't nudge you when someone's late; the loan stays pending until you log the payment.
- Individual transactions only. Not available for transfers or for expenses shared with your partner.
- Also from the AI assistant. You can ask it to log a "receivable" expense or ask how much you're owed.
